Insane for the Holidays - Accountability Journal

Okay, so I have not been so good at posting every day...I will try to do better in the future. :)

I did work out 4 days this week, the other 2 totally got away from me.  Note to self:  Make sure you get your workout in first thing in the morning, or you might not ever do it.  (Sigh)

Recap for the week -

Day 3:  P90X Shoulders & Arms

I really love this workout!  Well, I just really love shoulder and arm day in general.... the glamour muscles!! :)
It's a little hard for me to get into the groove with P90X, when I've been used to doing Body Beast.  They are so different!  The X goes a lot faster it seems like, and it's a little hard to decide what weight to use.  The exercises go like this - shoulders, biceps, triceps - and then you repeat the same thing one more time.  Some of the people are doing 15 reps, some are doing only 8 with heavier weights.  I feel a little rushed sometimes and then the music just ends... so I guess I need to go faster.  I just didn't feel like I totally worked my muscles to fatigue like I did with Body Beast.

I'm thinking next time I will go really heavy and try to do only 10 reps.  Really slow and really heavy.  I feel the high rep thing doesn't work very well for me - I NEED to be sore the next day!! haha :)

Day 4:  Insanity Plyometric Cardio

Totally skipped this.  Dang!  I was super busy all day with hair appointments, grocery shopping, and football games.  However, NO EXCUSES next time - I will make sure to get up earlier. :)

Day 5:  Body Beast Build: Legs

Oooooh I love/hate leg day!  I think Body Beast has much better leg workouts than P90X.  The main difference is that P90X uses a lot of body weight exercises.  Which is totally fine, but if you have ever looked at before & afters of P90X, the results are more upper body and abs.  Sorry, just my opinion, don't hate me. :)

Body Beast has tons of squats, lunges and those killer step-ups - all with heavy weights!  My legs are literally shaking when I finish this workout.  When I did my first round of the Beast, I noticed my legs changing first - LOVE that!

I also like that at the end of every Body Beast workout, you get a little abs too.  Bonus!

Week Review:

Well, I am still trying to get back into my groove.  I hate when I just totally stop working out, because my diet goes down the tubes, and then it is way hard to get back into good habits.  I usually start out great the first half of the week, then my husband has Thursdays off work, so it feels like a weekend to me.  Friday I can usually get it back together, but then it really IS the weekend - and I eat like crap!  Yep, I totally just admitted that.  It's hard - I'm not perfect.  I don't know that I ever will be, I'm just hoping to get into more of an 80/20 balance, you know?

It's a process, I WILL get there!  I am already doing so much better than I have in the past.  I'm stronger, I know what works and what doesn't for my body, and I have all the tools I need to reach my goals.  I just need to be strong, committed, and not throw in the towel when I mess up a little.

If you are going through the same things I am, and would like some support in your journey - I would love for you to join me!  We can help and motivate eachother!  I absolutely LOVE to see people reach their goals and find the happiness and energy that comes with getting healthier!

Insane for the Holidays - Accountability Journal

Day 2:  Insanity Pure Cardio

Man, oh man - I love this workout!  I know most people HATE it, it's really hard!  I think why I like it so much is because you never repeat the exercises.  Which is good, because if there is something I don't like very much... I can do it and move on, thank you! haha :)

I love how super sweaty I get with Insanity, too! I am literally DRIPPING - I know...gross.  But hey, we're talking WORKING OUT here, not going to the Oscars.

I was soooo sore from yesterday's workout - my entire upper body hurts so good!  I also never realized how effective pushups are for your core muscles.  Every time I laugh today I can definitely feel how sore my abs are.  OUCH!

My diet was a little better today, still not back in the groove with eating every few hours, but my choices are a lot better.  Still didn't drink my gallon of water. grrrr :(

I'm going to be taking some new 'before' pics tomorrow along with my weight and measurements to help keep me on track.

Have a great day everyone! :)

Insane for the Holidays - Accountability Journal

Okay, for those of you who don't know - I started an Insane for the Holidays Facebook group to keep everyone motivated over the upcoming holidays.

I have to admit....so far, I have not been doing so well.  My workouts are okay, but I have been skipping here and there.  I have been having some trouble with my energy levels, motivation and the fact that it's been soooo hard to lose weight, no matter what I do.  Well, the other day I had some blood tests done and sure enough, my thyroid is underactive.  So hopefully with some medication, I will start to feel a little better and be able to get back to my old self.

Anyway, I decided I needed a little extra motivation.  I am going to blog about my workouts during this holiday season, so I can be more accountable and maybe even help someone who has trouble sticking to their goals over the winter like I do.

My workout schedule I came up with is going to be really fun!!  It's a hybrid of P90X, Insanity, TurboFire, Body Beast, and T25.  Kind of an I-love-all-these-programs-I-can't-decide hybrid.  Crazy, right?  I KNOW I can't get bored with that! haha :)

This schedule finishes the week of Thanksgiving - not sure how that's gonna go. haha  Then, I will decide what to do during Decamber.  I am planning on getting P90X3 for Christmas!!  So excited! :)

Okay, now for my Journal.....
Day 1:  P90X Chest & Back
I haven't done the X in a loooong time.  Years even.  So it was kind of fun to have something new again.  I will admit I did ALL the pushups on my knees, except for the incline pushups, but my arms barely moved on those, so it was more like incline PLANK! haha

I still cannot do those darn dive bombers!!  I basically just did downward dog to plank over and over.  I also use the black bands for all my pull ups - Still a great workout I must say!

My diet was not the best, and I didn't even count my calories... must do better tomorrow!  Drank 1/2 gallon of water.... need to do better on that, too.

Well, that's pretty much it for today.  If you have any questions about any of the Beachbody programs, the hybrid I'm doing, or if you want to join the group - please feel free to contact me.  I would love to hear from you.

INSANE for the Holidays! 60-day Challenge

Guess what?  We only have a couple months until Thanksgiving!  Does that scare you?  It totally scares me! :o  haha

If you are anything like me, you are pretty good about eating healthy and working out from about spring - fall, then totally hibernate over the winter.  It never fails!  I think maybe it's that it's cold and dark outside, or maybe it's all the baking and yummy fall smells.  The holiday parties definitely add to it.  I can probably think of a million excuses why I tend to gain weight over the holidays, but that is just what they are - EXCUSES!!

Well - NOT THIS YEAR!  For those of you that have been following my blog, you know that when I started my first challenge group in the spring, I made a goal that I would complete 3 Beachbody programs before the end of the year.  Well.....I have one more program to go!!

My first program was Body Beast - LOVED it!  This week I will complete T25 - loved that too! :)  And the program I have chosen to push me to my goal by the end of the year is ...... INSANITY!!!

The first time I did Insanity, I made it to the last week and then QUIT!  WHAT?!?  I was seeing such great results, too. :(

My sister did a round of Insanity in the spring & also had great results, so I have been wanting to totally CRUSH it for round 2!  (I also really want my Insanity t-shirt!)

This is the perfect program for me right now because it delivers amazing results, it's short, and did I mention you get amazing results?

What better way to motivate you to stay healthy over the holidays?  You could be tightening your belt when everyone else is loosening theirs, right?  Let's not drown ourselves in baggy sweats this winter!

Who is with me?

Grab a buddy and JOIN ME!!  You don't have to do Insanity, any program will do.

Fuel Your Body Friday - Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Chili

This is a great recipe for fall!  It's football season again and the weather is getting a little cooler, so what better way to spice it up than with a little chili??  I made this and put it on my food blog about a year and a half ago, and when I was going through all my recipes to find the "clean" ones, I realized this would be a perfect one to add to my list.

So go and whip up a batch for your meals next week - I promise you won't regret it!

Fuel Your Body Friday - Stuffed Avocados

I saw this recipe on Muscle & Fitness Hers, and it looks soooo good!  I love avocados!  I think I would leave out the orange slices, though - I have a thing about fruit and veggies together - ugh!  I can't do the strawberries in a salad either.  I know - I'm weird like that. :)

Ingredients:
1 medium avocado
3 oz can tuna, drained
1/4 cup each - green pepper, red onion and cucumber, diced
1/3 cup nonfat greek yogurt, plain
1 tsp dijon mustard
1 tsp lemon juice
1/4 tsp sea salt
1 pkt Truvia sweetener
1/4 cup fresh orange sections, diced

Directions:
Slice avocado in half lengthwise, remove pit.  Scoop out the center, leaving 1/4 inch of avocado all around.  Put scooped out avocado into a bowl, add all ingredients except orange sections.  Mix all ingredients until well blended.  Carefully stir in oranges.  Scoop half the mix into each avocado.

Put in refrigerator for 10 minutes to chill slightly.

Easy to grab and go!  Yummy!

(This has a lot of calories - about 470, so I would maybe only eat 1/2 at a time.)
